Printer Driver Working Group Status - June 2002 - 11 September 2003

Accomplishments:

1.  Agreed on a set of job properties that printer drivers should support.  This
will help support the Job Ticket group.

2.  Talked about an API that a printer driver must support.  This API is focused
on the interface between a rendering engine and the printer driver.


In Progress:

1.  Creation of the printer driver API Specification.

2.  Implementation of the API library.

3.  Implementation of a reference standard printer driver.


Future Plans:
---------------
1.  High level drawing calls to the printer driver.

2.  Bidirection status/communication for the printer driver.

3.  Capabilities support from the printer driver.


Issues/Concerns:

1.  Lack of support from other printer driver writers.

The standard is not far enough along to set a schedule.
